Good Friday

Good Friday… may seem strange to some people that we call the day Christ was crucified “good”. I liken it to the fact that the end result is good, great even, for you & me!

Yes, on Friday Jesus was mocked, beaten & hung on a cross to die for sin–EVERYONE’S sin–whether they believe it or not. Yes, He had the power to get down off the cross and prove to everyone there who He really was and what power He had. No, He did not do that.

Why, you ask? There could be many reasons argued. One reason I believe it happened that way is because people would be shown more who Jesus was if He died and was resurrected than just if He climbed down off the cross and said “told ya so”.

When He was confirmed dead and was buried and then when His grave was being visited a stone that no one man could have moved had been moved and His tomb was empty–oh, that made much more of a statement!

I can’t imagine the pain that God went through on that “Good Friday” even though He knew the outcome! I know that I am thankful that He was thinking of ME and how MY life would be changed by His sacrifice! I pray that your life has been changed by it as well. If you are unsure or need someone to explain to you what God has done for you, please leave me a comment!

I will leave you with 2 things! 1 is words to a song that I feel like explain it all about MY part in why Jesus had to die.

How deep the Father’s love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
And make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the man upon the cross
My sin upon His shoulder
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
